Complete Your New York 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

If you're preparing to earn your first driver's license in New York, the 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course is an important step in the licensing process. This state-required course is designed to help new drivers understand the responsibilities of operating a motor vehicle and prepare for safe driving practices.

The course covers a variety of topics that every new driver should know, including traffic laws, roadway safety, defensive driving techniques, and the dangers of impaired or distracted driving. Students who successfully complete the course satisfy the New York State pre-licensing education requirement needed before taking a road test. The New York State DMV requires most new drivers to complete a 5-hour pre-licensing course unless they have completed an approved Driver Education Program.

Course Topics Include:

• Defensive driving strategies
• Traffic signs and roadway rules
• Driver attitudes and decision-making
• Sharing the road safely
• Risk recognition and hazard awareness
• Alcohol and drug impairment education
• Safe driving responsibilities

Private Driving Lessons for New Drivers
